New Website

Hello! I know it's been awhile since we blogged! Thank you for still following us! We really appreciate it! We wanted to let you know that we merged littleseouls.com and littleseoulsparty.com back together again unto one site: littleseouls.com. We hope that you will find the new website more user friendly. You no longer have to go to two sites to order!

You will notice that we have made some changes to our business - the most significant being that we now offer digital files for dol (first birthday) invites, banners and doljabi boards. Unfortunately, we no longer offer printing services anymore on these personalized party banners, invitations, and boards. Esther, who handles all the design and printing, is working reduced hours at Little Seouls, so we unfortunately had to make adjustments.  I know some of you still prefer printed products, so we do offer a limited selection of non-personalized doljabi boards and banners that we can print and ship out to you. You will find this under "party supplies."

This year will mark 8 years of us being in business! Each year has brought on different challenges and we hope you will continue to support us so that we can continue on for severals years to come.

Book Highlight: New Clothes for New Year's Day

"New Clothes for New Year's Day" by Hyun Ju Bae is the perfect book to read to your child to get them excited for the upcoming New Year's Sae Bae event. What is "Sae Bae?" Sae bae is when the younger generation bow down in honor to their elders during New Year's Day. Traditionally, the whole family dresses up in their Korean hanboks and makes visitations to their older relatives, like their grandparents, aunts and uncles. After the children sae bae, the relatives (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles), will give the children money and say some words of wisdom to them.

Author Hyun Ju Bae details how a little girl gets dressed and ready for the New Year's. He explains things such as, how to wear a hanbok, and also gives descriptions of the various hanbok items. This book comes with beautiful illustrations.

Dog Hanboks

This is the first time I have seen this. Why am I not surprised? Dogs can now wear hanboks for the new year too! Hmmm....should Little Seouls start selling these?

Little Seouls now rents hanboks!

Since hanboks are usually only worn once, we decided to now rent them as well as sell them. The cost starts at $40 for 5 days. It includes shipping! There is a $50 refundable deposit.

Starting a New Year's Tradition...

We have a cousin that lives in Washington with her family and her kids who are half Jewish got into the Korean spirit in borrowed hanboks by doing sebae to their parents and making mandoos with their Korean friends!

It's such a great idea getting your kids involved in making mandoo...and all Korean kids love mandoo! Great tradition to start with your kids!
