Here is one of our customers who ended up renting the 100th day hanbok for Baek-il from us and then later renting the first birthday (Size 1) hanbok from us later for his Doljanchi. Kids outgrow their hanboks, so renting is a practical option instead of buying one! Our hanbok rental selection is always being updated and we are open to adding more - feel free to contact us if there is a specific design you are trying to locate.

How to Save Money on Your Baby's Dol Korean First Birthday Party
Renting your baby's hanbok is a great way to save costs while planning your Korean baby's first birthday event (doljanchi). We have several options for you and have recently added more hanboks to choose from. Here is one of my favorite boy rental hanboks. It comes with the upgraded hanbok bokgun hat and good fortune and prosperity belt as shown. This is a Size 1 Hanbok.
Another saving option is instead of buying items for your doljabi event, you can rent our doljabi set!
http://littleseouls.com/collections/doljabi-rentals
We have also added some more economical options for decorative Korean birthday banners. They are smaller in size but offers you significant cost savings.
This banner is currently on sale for $39.99 and size is 2.5 by 4 feet. If you want a larger size, we do have it for sale for $89.99 and size is 4 feet by 6.

100th Day Baek-il (백일) Hanbok Rentals
![]() |
Korean 100th day birthday (Baek-il) continues to be favored tradition among Koreans and Korean Americans alike. One hundred days after a baby is born, Koreans have a small feast to
celebrate the baby's survival and health. The celebration is usually held at home and is less elaborate in comparison to
the Korean 1st birthday (Dol) party. Rice cakes, red bean cakes and other traditional Korean
food is usually provided.
Little Seouls has several 100th day hanbok rentals available for boy or girl!
Since they are 100th day hanboks, the sizing is equivalent to US Size 3 to 6 months.

New Website
Hello! I know it's been awhile since we blogged! Thank you for still following us! We really appreciate it! We wanted to let you know that we merged littleseouls.com and littleseoulsparty.com back together again unto one site: littleseouls.com. We hope that you will find the new website more user friendly. You no longer have to go to two sites to order!
You will notice that we have made some changes to our business - the most significant being that we now offer digital files for dol (first birthday) invites, banners and doljabi boards. Unfortunately, we no longer offer printing services anymore on these personalized party banners, invitations, and boards. Esther, who handles all the design and printing, is working reduced hours at Little Seouls, so we unfortunately had to make adjustments. I know some of you still prefer printed products, so we do offer a limited selection of non-personalized doljabi boards and banners that we can print and ship out to you. You will find this under "party supplies."
This year will mark 8 years of us being in business! Each year has brought on different challenges and we hope you will continue to support us so that we can continue on for severals years to come.
Sincerely,
Susanna and Esther

Having a Dol? Try making these...
All Korean dols have these candy towers on the table...it usually has some Korean words on it. I came across this photo and thought this looked pretty easy to make. You can make it more custom by inserting the baby's name, or decorate it with his/her favorite character...Just glue beans and candy (i.e., mentos, skittles, gumdrops...anything round with color).

Dol Photo Table

The big trend in dols are photo tables, a montage of pictures of the baby during his/her first year. Some are elaborate where they have pictures of the baby hanging on branches (see first pic), or picture cut-out stands like these:

They also have professional posters of the baby made like these:

And yes, almost all of them use a professional photographer. You go to any Korean photo studio, and it's either weddings or baby's first birthday pictures displayed throughout the store. It's a big deal. It's probably just as big as a wedding...crazy, I know.

Korean Dol Party Favors

Can you believe these are all towels?? Towels are very popular party favors in Korea...so cute! Other popular items include cups, clocks, chopsticks, mugs, and plates.
Dol party planning is a big business in Korea. There are many stores that sell just dol products!
Thought we'd give you some ideas for your baby's dol!
*Little Seouls now offers towel cakes at our store. Click here for more info.

Korean Dol Today (U.S. Version)

Dol's among our Korean-American friends are quite fancy. It's just as fancy as a wedding reception! And yes, probably spend just as much! They usually have them at restaurants, hotels, reception halls, etc. These pictures are from Cara's dol.
As you can see there lots of decorations. The balloons are quite popular at dols. In Koreatown, there are several balloon stores that do this....and it's not cheap!

Guests also get party favors. For adults, they will all get Dduk (ricecake) to take home and kids will usually get some little gift.
They will also hire some sort of entertainer for the kids like a magician, puppeteer, clown, etc.
Not everyone goes all out like this. Some keep it simple like a bar-b-q at the park or in their backyard.
Here she is in her hanbok! A little Korean Princess! By the way, those things in front of her is the dduk (ricecakes).
